Every voice counts. Tuesday, May 26 is the deadline for submitting comments on the National Nuclear Security Administration’s latest effort to authorize its plan to continue weapons production in Oak Ridge in unsafe facilities. Check out this fact sheet for the info and talking points you need to send in comments.

Please, please, please send in comments, even if only a sentence or two. Numbers count.

  1. Philip Anderson says:

Nuclear weapons make us less safe and less secure in a troubled world. We need to get rid of them and not be “modernizing” them or building more of them.

The Oak Ridge facility needs to be closed not upgraded.

  2. John Pegg says:

We must end production of nuclear weapons, especially in an unsafe facility such as Oak Ridge. I speak as a U.S.M.C. Vietnam Era veteran who has been opposed to nuclear weapons my entire life!

  3. Ian Connell says:

It’s time for the United States to step up and lead the world toward a just peace, and one substantive and bold move is to eliminate nuclear weapons as soon as is safely possible. Any conflict that escalates to a nuclear attack is a potentially world-ending event, and we have seen recently how even testing these weapons is a provocation of other nuclear-armed nations. If no nuclear weapons exist, nuclear war ceases to be a possibility, and the US can lead in this effort, starting in Oak Ridge. Every journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step, and dismantling production of nuclear weapons can lead to the elimination of these abominable weapons.

  4. Cindy Carter says:

I have had enough of the War Machine. It is time to END nuclear arms, and CLOSE Oak Ridge nuclear facility. I am SICK AND TIRED OF MY TAX DOLLARS GOING TO THE MURDERING OF INNOCENT PEOPLE AND DESTROYING OUR ENVIRONMENT AND ALL THE WILDLIFE!!!!!!

  5. I am appalled to learn that our government is not taking seriously the danger of what damage an earthquake could cause at Oak Ridge Y-12 plant. I am opposed to the building of nuclear weapons but since they exist at Oak Ridge they must be prepared by creating necessary safeguards to assure there are not catastrophic consequences in the event of an earthquake.
During the present Pandemic the country and the world is threatened in extraordinary ways we had not imagined. Now is time to move toward a denuclearized world to protect humanity.
In the meantime, everything should be done to protect us from the very grave possibility of destruction of the environment and all forms of life surrounding the Y-12 plant beyond caused by a catastrophic earthquake.
