Safety Meeting

OREPA will host an important public meeting on safety issues at the new bomb plant proposed for Oak Ridge. Even after the half-billion-dollar design fiasco at the Uranium Processing Facility, the government continues to cut corners on safety to save money. The potential impacts on people living within 25 miles of Oak Ridge are monstrous.

This meeting, on Sunday, December 8 at Church of the Savior on Weisgarber Rd in Knoxville will look at documented safety issues. We will begin at 6:30pm with a potluck dinner; the meeting will begin at 7:00pm.

Two days later, on Tuesday, December 10, the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board will hold a public meeting in Knoxville at the Convention Center beginning at 8:00am and lasting until 6:00pm.

Sunday Vigil at Y-12 in Oak Ridge Tennessee

Sunday Vigil

OREPA has held Sunday vigils every week for more than 22 years at the main entrance to the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex (intersection of Scarboro Rd and East Bear Creek Road). We will now be holding the vigil at 4:00PM ET during the winter months so we don’t have to be sitting out in the dark. We are outdoors and space our chairs; when covid numbers are up, we encourage people to wear masks. Bring your own chair, we have some umbrellas for sun shade or rain.
